Gavilan Football Players Suit Up to Volunteer

Gavilan College football players and coaches help load ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner at St. Joseph's Family Center.

On Monday, Gavilan football players suited up for some rough fun. However, they weren't playing football, they were volunteering at . 

The football players and coaches turned their attention away from football, and worked together to help the less fortunate in the community, wrote Gavilan College Spokeswoman Jan Bernstein Chargin in a prepared statement.

"As volunteers they spent a few hours loading the ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner into the cars of those receiving food assistance from St. Joseph's," Bernstein Chargin wrote.

Ron Hannon, Gavilan College dean of kinesiology and athletics, said it was inspiring to see the football players work together to help others, despite everything that has recently happened.
