Police Seek Help in Identifying Suspect from Walmart Robbery

The Super Walmart on Camino Arroyo was robbed on Thursday evening.

An unknown suspect robbed the customer service counter at the Super Walmart on 7150 Camino Arroyo on Thursday, and fled with almost 4,000 dollars.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who is described as an adult male with a goatee. He was wearing a black San Francisco Giants Baseball cap, and a black and white Reebok jacket at the time of the robbery, according to a media release by the Gilroy Police Department.

The suspect reportedly contacted a store cashier at around 8 p.m., and slipped the employee a note demanding cash from the register, the release reads. The victim apparently complied because he believed the suspect was armed with a deadly weapon, although one was not seen.

The suspect then fled on foot and was last seen running in the southern direction from the store, the release reads.

“The suspect’s blatant disregard for safety, as he committed this crime during busy retail hours and potentially while armed, is of significant public safety concern,” stated Sgt. Chad Gallacinao in the media release. “The photographs of the suspect are being released to media outlets in hopes that someone will come forward and identify the suspect.”

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective Michael Bolton at 408-846-0350. Individuals can also leave anonymous tips by calling the We Tip line at 1-800-782-7463 (800-78-Crime).
