Sierra LaMar Disappearance Anniversary Approaching — How to Commemorate?

March 16 will march one year since the Morgan Hill teenager was abducted.

We are under a month from the one-year anniversary (March 16) of the disappearance of Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar, and still the tragedy persists.

LaMar's body hasn't been found, despite weekly searches by community volunteers.

Antolin Garcia-Torres, the man accused of abducting and killing LaMar, has continually put off entering a plea in court. But a county prosecutor told Patch earlier this month that the death penalty could be sought if Garcia-Torres is convicted.

In September, family, friends and other locals gathered to mark the six-month mark since LaMar's disappearance. They released 100 red balloons with notes to Sierra attached into the sky.

"I told her to come back so we could do all the plans that we made," Sierra's best friend Channah Foreman told KTVU.

Formal plans for a one-year anniversary commemoration have not yet been announced.
