Police Arrest Transient on Suspicion of Knife Possession and Parole Violation
Jesse Lopez, 48, was found outside St. Mary's Church with a 8.5-inch steak knife and empty syringe.
Jesse Lopez, 48, was arrested on suspicion of weapon possession and parole violation after police found him outside St. Mary’s Church with a 8.5-inch steak knife in his pants pocket.
Police received a call from a concerned citizen at around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday regarding “A drunk male inside the church causing a disturbance,” according to Sgt. Chad Gallacinao of the Gilroy Police Department. The caller also said he had reason to believe the man had a knife in the back pocket of his pants.
Responding officers searched Lopez, a transient who had reportedly wandered into the area, and found him in possession of the knife, along with an empty hypodermic syringe in his hand that contained no residue, Gallacinao said.
Although Lopez’s reason for possessing the knife is still unclear, it seems that he wasn’t planning on using it for dinner.
“He wasn’t in possession of a steak or anything,” Gallacinao said.
Lopez is reportedly known by police because of his previous run-ins with the law. He will remain in custody until a bail amount is set, Gallacinao said.

He obviously needs help. Its great to see people poking fun. With not enough resources or facilities for the mentally disabled how will we as a nation help our own people?
