Two Vicious Pit Bulls Kill Third Dog in Gilroy

The owner of the two dogs released the animals for euthanasia.

On Nov. 27 at 1:10 p.m., Gilroy Police Department Patrol and Animal Control Officers responded to the 7600 block of Rosanna Street on a report of a dog attack.

It was reported that two Pit Bull-type dogs were attacking another dog in a backyard. Animal Control Officers on scene were able to chemically capture both of the aggressor dogs. The investigation revealed that both dogs killed one dog; one cat, and injured two other dogs.

The owner of both dogs is also the owner of the dog that was killed. Both dogs were immediately deemed level three dangerous/vicious dogs and were surrendered by the owner to be euthanized per city ordinance. The aggressor dogs involved in this incident are not the same dogs involved in the prior dog attack reporter earlier this month.

This incident is being actively investigated by the department’s animal control officer. All parties involved have been contacted. Dog owners are reminded to ensure familiarization with all dog-related city ordinances.

All dogs must be leashed while on city streets and sidewalks. All dog owners are also reminded to properly secure dog enclosures. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Gilroy Police Department at 408-846-0350.
