Furloughed Employees Welcome at the Y

All five Central Coast YMCA branches have opened their doors to furloughed federal employees during the current government shutdown. Federal employees will just need to present their federal IDs at the Central Coast Y branch of their choice, and they will be able to access all that the Y has to offer… everything from group exercise classes and circuit training to basketball, swimming and more. “At the Y, we believe in healthy living and social responsibility. This belief compels us to make our programs and facilities available to those who need it,” said Barb McGaughey, President and CEO of Central Coast YMCA. “Everyone should have the opportunity to maintain their health, especially during times of stress and uncertainty. We welcome all the Central Coast’s furloughed federal employees and hope they utilize the Y to stay healthy during the length of the government shutdown.” Central Coast YMCA facilities are located in Salinas, Monterey, Soledad, Watsonville and Hollister.
