Walnut Elementary Wins $10,000 in Scotties Trees Rock Contest

Yesterday, Walnut Elementary of Turlock, California and was named the 2013-2014 grand prize winners of the Scotties TREES ROCK! video contest.

The school led by Principal Mark Holmes was treated to a tree planting event, a visit from notables including  the mayor, John Lazar and Olympic silver medalist rower, Ali Cox. The students were treated to a rock concert from the Morris Brothers and an all-out fun and festive day sponsored by Scotties Facial Tissues.

The third grade students of Walnut Elementary shared with the community their winning video on why trees are important during the school ceremony and cheers rang loudly as the principal accepted a giant check for the $10,000 prize.
