Bay Area to See Gray Skies, Rain This Week

Rain is expected to hit the Bay Area on Tuesday and clear up by the weekend.

Rain is in the forecast for the Bay Area this week as a slow-moving storm system is expected to hit the region early Tuesday, a National Weather Service forecaster said.

The drizzle will begin before dawn, forecaster Rick Canepa said.

"By the morning commute, rain is quite likely," he said.

The wet weather is expected to last throughout the day and bring half an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall to the Bay Area, with more in hilly areas, Canepa said.

Showers will continue into Wednesday, and another storm system will roll in on Thursday, he said.

Thursday night and early Friday could bring a dusting of snow to Bay Area peaks above 3,000 feet, Canepa said.

While the storms are passing through, high temperatures will likely be in the low to mid-50s, he said.

In Gilroy, temperatures are expected to range between a high of 66 degrees on Tuesday to a low of 52 by Friday, with lighter showers lasting through Thursday and rain on Friday, according to The Weather Channel. Temperatures should steadily increase by Saturday, with an anticipated high of 68 degrees, followed by a high of 71 on Sunday and a high of 75 by Monday, April 16.

The good news, Canepa said, is that the clouds are expected to clear and the temperatures to rise by the weekend. "There's definitely some light at the end of the tunnel," he said.
