Estimate: 740 Locals Unknowingly Have HIV

Get tested today, National HIV Testing Day, at one of five free locations in San Jose.

June 27 is National HIV Testing Day and Santa Clara County is participating by providing free testing at five different San Jose locations throughout the day.

One in five people with HIV/AIDS don't even know they have the ailment, according to the Public Health Department. That means about 740 people in Santa Clara County alone are unaware they have HIV or AIDS.

“Getting tested for HIV is so important for the health of individuals, and also for the
community’s health,” said Santa Clara County Health Officer Dr. Marty Fenstersheib. “Through testing and diagnosis, people will be able to receive appropriate care and treatment. Testing is also crucial in preventing transmission of HIV.”

The tests will be administered throughout the day at the following locations:

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Consulado General de Mexico (Consulate General of Mexico)
