Fresh Gets Fresher as Demonstration Garden Feeds Farmers Market

September is the height of the season for local produce, said Market Coordinator Catalina Ventura.

While the Gilroy Farmers Market sources its produce and products from a small radius around the city, patrons will get an especially local selection on Sunday with the Gilroy Demonstration Garden.

“The Gilroy Demonstration Garden has an amazing selection of seasonal produce, and forget miles—it’s a matter of feet between picking and the market,” said Market Coordinator Catalina Ventura.

Heirloom Organics will return to the market this week, along with a jazz quartet and activities for children.

“September is a dream for foodies in California,” said Ventura. “We are at the height of the season, and I am enjoying the abundance of the harvest while I can.”

Apart from the weekly offering of fresh produce from a variety of vendors, the market will host the Harvest Festival on Sept. 25. The event will feature local artists, businesses, demonstrations and live music by Michael Annotti.
