Freshman at Gilroy Early College Academy Idolizes Vanessa Hudgens

Harleen Kaur, a 14-year-old Gilroy Early Academy freshman, describes her style as a little bit 'girly,' but full of rock.

When 14-year-old Harleen Kaur, a freshman at Gilroy Early College Academy, isn't at school, you can find her picking up some more accessories to add to her collection at the Gilroy Premium Outlets.

Gilroy Patch caught up with her and asked a few fashion questions.

Harleen Kaur: I'm wearing an off-the-shoulder loose top with a butterfly on it that I got from Wet Seal at the mall. The pants I'm wearing are supposed to be like True Religion jeans, but they weren't $100. These black flats I got at Payless. And the flower headband I got at Claire's.

Patch: Where do you like to shop?

Kaur: I usually like to shop at Wet Seal, Forever 21, PacSun. I like going to the mall and I like the Outlets.

Patch: How would you describe your style in a few words?

Kaur: My style is girly, but not totally girly. It's also pretty rocker. I wear rocker-style clothes. I really just like anything cute.

Patch: Is it hard to stand out as a freshman in high school?

Kaur: Well there are only 200 students in my school, so it's hard to copy people's style.

Patch: Do you have any celebrity fashion inspirations?

Kaur: I really like Vanessa Hudgens. She seems to accessorize a lot. She has really cute hair. She can also pull off vintage dresses, anything really. I also really like Avril Lavigne, even though I don't think I can pull off her style.

Patch: Do you have any advice for your fellow students who might not have found their personal style yet?

Kaur: Don't go for what looks good on somebody else. Dress in what feels good for your body. You won't be happy if you don't feel good in the clothes you are wearing.
