Get Out: New Year's Eve Celebrations Around Town

Live music, dancing, a five-course dinner, bubbly and more!

Below is a list of New Year's Eve bashes that are in Gilroy and nearby. There's an event just for singles, lives music, DJs galore and fancy dinners. Look them over and have a memorable time bringing in the New Year.

Shane Dwight at 9 Lives

When/Where: 9 Lives, located at 7430 Monterey St. on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Spend the night at with Shane Dwight, a popular musician and songwriter. The ticket price also includes party favors, hors d'overes and a midnight Champagne toast.

Price: $35

When/Where: , located at 7400 Monterey St. on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Lizarran will be closing, and this will be one of their last hurry bashes. There will be live music, a five-course meal and a champagne toast. Attendees will even receive a taxi ride home. For more details, refer .

New Year's Eve Dinner and Dance at I.F.D.E.S

When/Where: I.F.D.E.S hall, located at 250 Old Gilroy St. on Saturday at 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Why Go: It will be an evening of great food, company and dancing. DJ Curtis Bakich will start busting some beats at 9 p.m., and dinner will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Dinner includes steak, shrimp, veggies, and dessert. And what would New Year's Eve be without a little bubbly? There will be an open bar and a champagne toast at midnight.

Price: $60 for adults, $25 for teens, and $12 for children 12 years of age and younger.

When/Where: At 10021 Pacheco Pass Hwy. in Hollister on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: There will be a catered dinner, dancing, party favors and of course, champagne! Attendees can also rent a room next door to avoid driving.

Dinner and Dance at the Gilroy Elks Lodge

When/Where: Saturday at the Gilroy Elks Lodge, located at 2765 Hecker Pass Hwy. at 6 p.m.

Why Go: There will be music by the South Bay Swing Band, a steak and lobster dinner and dancing. Dinner begins at 7:30 p.m., with dancing starting at 9 p.m.

Price: $75 for members, and $85 for nonmembers. Call 842-9397 for ticket information.

New Year's Eve Dinner and Dance for Singles at West Side Grill

When/Where: The West Side Grill, located at 8080 Santa Teresa Blvd. at 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: How about bringing in the New Year with a new "special friend". West Side Grill is throwing a party for singles, and will have music provided by DJ Sugar Rhythm Dance.

Price: $35, call 847-3800 for details.

6th Annual Black & White New Year's Eve Bash 

When/Where: Morgan Hill Cellars, located at 1645 San Pedro Ave., Morgan Hill. From 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Why Go: There will be wine tasting, a dinner buffet and music by White Pegasus.

Price: $65

That this person actually thought this poor young girl had culpability for her attack is a symptom of our societies disregard for women. I'm actually glad he made the comment so we can look at and discuss the problem.

From one of the interviews I watched online, it seems that many Saratoga High students knew whatRead More happened at the party and had seen the pictures. How is it that arrests did not follow the assault and the suicide for over 6 months? Could it be that the students who knew information about the felony chose to remain silent? I hope that is not the case; we will surely find out as the details of the case are revealed in the media over the next weeks and months. In the meantime lets make sure we are teaching our kids about the responsibility of living in community and caring about others. God forbid that any of the students have to live with the knowledge that they could have prevented the suicide, or with the knowledge that they helped cover up such a heinous crime.
