Get Out in Gilroy: 101 Dalmatians, Derby Girls and More

Have Coffee with the Mayor, mingle with some Derby Girls and browse the Farmer's Market this week in Gilroy.

Where/When: 9Lives Club 7430 Monterey St, Gilroy, CA 95020, Friday, 9 pm to 2 am. 

Why Go: The South County Derby Girls are hosting the first Bruiser Bash to raise funds for a local commercial space to hold bouts. Come out and meet your local derby girls! There will also be three bands performing, a pin-up contest and raffle prizes! Help Gilroy bring roller derby home!

Where/When: Gilroy Gardens, Sunday, 1 pm and 3 pm.

Why Go: The dress up and dance show is a super midday treat for you and your family. Starring the popular children's character Madeline, the show offers non-stop music, laughs and most importantly, dancing! 

Pricing: Adults get into park for $44.99. Children for $34.99. An online special is available for $29.99 if you go to gilroygardens.org and purchase your tickets online. 

Where/When: Gilroy High School Theater, Friday, 7 p.m. 

Why Go: Presented by the Gilroy Recreation Department and Push Arts and Fitness, the 101 Dalmatians kids show opened last Friday night for the first of six shows at Gilroy High over the next two weeks. The mini musical aims to be fun for the entire family.

Where/When: Gilroy Center for the Arts, 7341 Monterey St, Gilroy, Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. 

Why Go: The market offers local and organic produce as well as other services such as body soaps and lotions, olive oil, honey and baked goods. Now entering its second month, the Farmers Market is in full bloom, giving guests a wide array of items to browse through and buy.

Where/When: Las Animas Veterans Park, 400 Mantelli Drive, Friday, 9 pm. 

Why Go: This weeks feature showing is "Little Giants" starring Rick Moranis and Ed O'Neill as rival Pee Wee football coaches in a small town in Ohio. Bring some snacks, a blanket, and the family! 

Pricing: Free

Where/When: 7351 Rosanna Street, Gilroy City Hall Council Chambers, Saturday, 9:30 am. 

Why Go: The informal event allows Gilroy residents some one-on-one time with the Mayor, allowing them to discuss city issues and broader topics as well. There won't be a coffee with the mayor sit down in August so get your questions answered this weekend or you'll have to wait until September!
