Get Out: Music Mania

There will be several free music performances throughout the weekend, and free digital media classes from CMAP.

Looking for something to do around town this weekend? Well, look no further because Patch has done the research, and compiled a list of five fun things to do around town today and over the weekend.

DIGITAL KARAOKE AT GILROY BOWL

When/Where: Friday at 9:30 p.m. on 7530 Monterey Street.

Why Go: The Gilroy Bowl will be featuring a night of digital karaoke inside of the bar from 9:30 p.m. until closing. This is an opportunity to sign up for your favorite tune, grab the microphone and be part of the performance!

DOC ROC & THE DISORDERLIES

When/Where: Station 55 Bar & Grill, located at 55 Fifth Street. Friday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Why Go: Doc Roc & The Disorderlies will be rocking Station 55 Bar & Grill with a free rock-music performance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Price: Free

DIGITAL STORYTELLING CLASS

When/Where: Saturday, at 5055 Santa Teresa Boulevard L-139.

Why Go: CMAP is offering a variety of classes, including a digital storytelling class, a digital music workshop and an online creative holiday workshop.

Starting at 12:00 p.m., Peter Leahrey will instruct the digital music workshop where attendees will gather experience in producing beats, and will learn how to make recordings digitally. Attendees will also be using a Midi Controller Keyboard, and will produce vocals in a vocal booth.

At 1:00 p.m., James Duisenberg will be instructing the digital storytelling class where students will learn to edit photos, videos and audio for the purpose of producing digital stories.

Lastly, at 6:00 p.m., Joanna Cyprys will be instructing a class on creating personalized gifts for the holiday, including cards, mugs and photo albums.

Price: Classes range from $20 to $30

LIVE MUSIC AT SUE'S COFFEE

When/Where: Sue’s Coffee Roasting Company, located at 7501 Monterey Street, Saturday.

Why Go: There will be two sets of live music. There will be a folk/pop performance by Paul Inman’s Delivery from 10 a.m.to 1 p.m. Later, a violin group instructed by Chris Ellis Sobolev will perform Christmas music, jazz, and Italian arias from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  

Price: Free admission for both performances.

ROCK PERFORMANCE AT STATION 55 BAR & GRILL

When/Where: At Station 55 Bar & Grill, located at 55 Fifth Street on Saturday.

Why Go: A free rock-music performance by R.O.D. will be taking place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Price: Free

14TH ANNUAL TOY DRIVE/CAR SHOW

When/Where: At 4644 Betabel Road (next to Betabel RV Park) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m on Sunday.

Why Go: The 14th Annual Toy Drive/Car Show is an opportunity to donate a new, unwrapped toy for a child this Holiday season. Everyone is welcome to participate in the car show for a $10 registration fee and all vehicle types are accepted.
