Gilroy is County's Youngest City–Lend Your Thoughts

The Mercury News looked at Census data and came to the interesting conclusion.

Gilroy has the largest per-capita youth population in the county, with nearly one-third of residents being under the age of 18.

The San Jose Mercury News used data from the U.S. Census to determine Gilroy's youthfulness, also examining trends such as childhood obesity and crime.

If there is a fountain of youth in Silicon Valley, it won't be found near high-tech companies or world-class prep schools or universities. It's down the freeway in Gilroy, where the smell of garlic and fertilizer on windy days wafts over new townhouses on cul-de-sacs and over the old barrio.
