UPDATE: Gilroy Shooting Victim Identified

Gilroy Police have released the identification of the 21-year-old man who was killed July 22 in the Sobrato apartment complex in Gilroy.

Updated: Wednesday, Aug. 1: Gilroy Police have released the name of the man who was shot and killed July 21 in the Sobrato apartment complex in Gilroy.

According to police spokesperson Sgt. Chad Gallacinao, killed in the shooting was Martin Rojas, 21, of Gilroy.

Rojas was shot once with an unknown-caliber firearm and driven in a private vehicle to Saint Louise Regional Hospital around 8:30 p.m., according to police reports. He later died from the wound.

Gilroy Police detectives obtained a search warrant for an apartment in the Sobrato complex located at 9365 Monterey Road as part of the homicide investigation. Due to the violent nature of the crime, the Gilroy Police and Morgan Hill Police departments' Regional SWAT Team served the search warrant.
