Join Wednesday's Rail Meeting and Help Refine Station's Vision

All residents are encouraged to come lend their thoughts on proposals that combine the public's ideas.

What do you think is important in the future high-speed rail station in Gilroy?

It is a question that members of the city’s have asked residents several times––over multiple workshops held in the last month.

Wednesday night, project members will show how they’ve translated those ideas into a vision for the two station options under consideration for Gilroy.

Staff encourage all residents, not just those who have already been involved, to attend and share their opinion about a station in either a rural area east of the Gilroy Premium Outlets or in the heart of the city’s downtown.

Recommendations from the workshop Wednesday evening will be sent back to project staff and refined into a final vision that goes before the public in September. The Gilroy City Council is expected to vote on the final recommendation in October.

Though the California High-Speed Rail Authority has the final say, staff from both the visioning project have said that the city’s recommendation will go far in influencing the decision.

The visioning project was funded by a $150,000 grant from VTA and a $50,000 contribution from the city. High-speed rail service is expected to be operating out of the city in 2025, connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles.
