Every weekend, Gilroy Patch assembles a gallery of photos highlighting a few articles from last week.

The past week was certainly busy, with good and bad news.

The week started off with a couple of looking for a home, followed by news of a on Old Gilroy Road that took place last Saturday.

The Gilroy Police released mid-week news about , a man suspected of burglarizing the Khol's department store on Aug. 17. Police had requested the public's help in identifying the suspect, who they were able to identify a day after the request thanks to the public's anonymous tips.

The week took a very sad turn on Wednesday, when news broke out about , a Cupertino cement plant worker who opened fire at a morning meeting, killing three people in the process and wounding several others. Police departments within the county joined together in attempts of locating Allman, who was spotted by three deputies Thursday morning, and subsequently shot and killed.

More upsetting news hit on Wednesday, with the death of Apple founder and legend , who had only announced his retirement the month before.

Things seemed to turn around a bit by Friday, with news of . Velasquez, who was a former teen mom herself, founded a nonprofit geared toward supporting teen moms and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.
