Police Blotter: Assault With Keys and Vandalism

Crime in Gilroy from Friday through Monday.

Jan. 21

12 p.m. The suspect vehicle, a Maroon Hummer H2 pulling a black utility trailer with four quads, drove through the drive through at Sonic, damaging the speaker box. The manager of the Sonic and the driver exchanged information, but the manager later learned that the information was fake.

6:39 a.m. The victim parked her vehicle in the parking lot of Gilroy Health and Fitness at approximately 6:35 a.m. About four hours later, a white compact, unknown make vehicle pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle. The driver got out and broke the victim’s right front vehicle passenger window and took the victim’s bag from the seat containing a laptop and phone.

Jan. 20

8:10 a.m. Two juviniles got into a fight at their residence on Ramona Highway. During the fight, the victim saw the arrestee pull out a pair of broken scissors. The victim grabbed the scissors and cut himself. The victim wanted to press charges and the arrestee was sent to juvinile hall.

Jan. 19

11:34 p.m. Santiago Arrendondo Ayala was arrested for public intoxication on Monterey Street. Cocaine was located in his pant pocket in a search prior to arrest.

5:17 p.m. A woman reported that she struck a dog with her vehicle in the area of Gurries and Church. The woman collected the dog and took it to San Martin Animal shelter where they refused to take the animal. The woman contacted SC Sheriff’s office and they refused to take the dog as well. The woman then drove to the City of Gilroy, where the GPD took custody of the dog and transported it to an emergency vet to treat its injuries.

7 a.m. Gabriel Cabrera was arrested after making threats to kill his neighbor with a gun on Forest Street. An associated male was arrested in the area for public intoxication.

Jan. 18

10:47 p.m. Laura Ann Maquinalez assaulted the victim, who she has been married to for the past eight years, with a set of car keys on Fourth Street. 

3:58 p.m. Alexandria Einhorn was caught shoplifting from First Street. The police searched her purse and found a glass pipe used to smoke a controlled substance. She was cited and released at the scene.
