Rain? Seriously?

"Once-in-a-lifetime" system brings late-June rain to Silicon Valley.

This evening, the unusually cool weather that finally gave way to a series of scorching weeks might be coming back for revenge.

The San Jose Mercury News reported that a late-June, “once-in-a-lifetime” rain will travel south through Santa Clara County today, with temperatures in Gilroy hovering below 70.

With any luck, a tenth of an inch of rain could fall on Gilroy this evening.

The heaviest raindrops should fall in cooler areas. The warmer air will make this storm weaker and spottier, but it will likely still have a little punch left when it hovers over downtown San Jose, forecasters say.

"The bottom line is, I wouldn't go wash my car," said Jan Null, meteorologist for Golden Gate Weather Services.

Temperatures are expected to shoot back up to the 90s in Gilroy for the Fourth-of-July Weekend, forecasters say.
