Reports Trumped — Austin Corini's Run on 'X Factor' Ends

After all the rumors, the Gilroy teen's band was not selected to the top 16 on the Fox show.

Rumors were flying last week after a weather debacle in St. Louis that pushed back the airing of the episode of "The X Factor" containing the reveal of the this season's top 16.

Most of the episode aired on the east coast last Thursday, but it was shelved entirely until Tuesday night everywhere else in the country. So some of the top 16 was unveiled last week, but the biggest question mark still remaining was the fate of Playback, a boy band including .

Multiple sites, including PerezHilton.com, GossipandGab.com and the X Factor Season 2 Wikipedia page, confirmed that Playback had indeed reached the top 16.

But sadly for Gilroy and its biggest rising star, the reports were wrong. When the episode finally aired in full Tuesday night, we found out that Playback was given the axe and will not appear on the live shows, which start Nov. 7.

The good news is that Playback appears to be far from finished. The group launched its official Facebook page last week and after last night's episode aired, they released a message to fans that said simply "Heads high. It starts now." The page has already garnered over 4600 likes.

Additionally, Playback has recorded three cover songs together and shot music videos for trio of tunes. The videos were shot in and around the Gilroy area as evidenced by several local landmarks obvious in the clips. Check out the videos above.

Were you sad to see Corini and Playback end their run on the show? Think Playback has a shot? Tell us in the comments!

The offensive comment we're discussing shows a complete lack of respect for women that permeates ourRead More culture. That this person actually thought this poor young girl had culpability for her attack is a symptom of our societies disregard for women. I'm actually glad he made the comment so we can look at and discuss the problem.

From one of the interviews I watched online, it seems that many Saratoga High students knew whatRead More happened at the party and had seen the pictures. How is it that arrests did not follow the assault and the suicide for over 6 months? Could it be that the students who knew information about the felony chose to remain silent? I hope that is not the case; we will surely find out as the details of the case are revealed in the media over the next weeks and months. In the meantime lets make sure we are teaching our kids about the responsibility of living in community and caring about others. God forbid that any of the students have to live with the knowledge that they could have prevented the suicide, or with the knowledge that they helped cover up such a heinous crime.
