Self-Proclaimed 'Plain Jane' Shops at Gilroy Outlets

Redding resident Cary Ferguson shops so much at the Gilroy outlets that she almost feel like a local. On Saturday, we caught her at Calvin Klein picking up a few workday essentials and asked a few fashion questions about her rainy-day style.

Gilroy Patch: How would you describe your look today?

Cary Ferguson: Today I'm wearing Seven jeans, rain-boots from Costco, and a turtleneck and peacoat from Macy's. 

Patch: How you stay fashionable in weather like this?

Ferguson: My outfit today is pretty warm, and it's easy for running errands and shopping. I am also wearing these rain boots, because I hate when the bottom of my pants get wet from puddles. 

Patch: Where do you like to shop?

Ferguson: Come spring, I plan on going to Valley Fair to do a little shopping. I want to get some cute flip-flops, those trendy "strappy" sandals. 

Patch: How would you describe your style?

Ferguson: I am really a "plain Jane." I usually wear just a plain tank top with cute shorts and dress it up with accessories. 

Patch: How does your hair stay straight in the wind and rain?

Ferguson: My hair is naturally straight, and I usually have it in a "pony," but today I just have it out of my face. Sometimes I wear a hat too, like a fedora.

Patch: Who is your style icon?

Ferguson: I really like Katie Holmes and Lauren Conrad. They both have a very simple style, no fuss. And it looks like they don't put any effort into their style. 

Patch: What is your advice to shoppers who decide the brave the elements and hit up the outlets? 

Ferguson: Wear clothes that are easy to take off and on the fastest while you are in the changing room.
