Traveling Vietnam Wall Replica to Stop in Gilroy Wednesday

The Traveling Vietnam Wall will be making a stop in Gilroy before heading to the Veterans Memorial in Cupertino's Memorial Park on Wednesday.

The Traveling Vietnam Wall will be making a stop in Gilroy before heading to the Veterans Memorial in on Wednesday. 

The wall is a traveling replica of the Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. and is guided by a Patriot Guard motorcycle brigade.

The wall is 80 percent to scale of the orginal one, and stretches more than 380-feet long, and holds the names of the 58,253 Americans who died in the Vietnam War.

The traveling wall is part of the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT), which is a veteran-owned project that travels the county with the Cost of Freedom Tribute.

The wall serves to remind people of all the soldiers who lost their lives while fighting for America.

According to the AVTT website, the wall provides "A forum for the members of the community to come together to Honor-Respect-Remember all those whom we have asked to stand in harm’s way to protect and defend our great country and freedom as our way of life."

The Traveling Vietnam Wall will be at the Shell gas station located at 850 Pacheco Pass Highway on Highway 152 East, just off of Highway 101 at 11 a.m.

The wall will be led by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department and The Patriot Guards.
