Wasserman Wants Your Garlic Festival Photos for Summer Contest

The Aug. 1 deadline for the District 1 summer photo contest is fast approaching.

With the Aug. 1 deadline for Mike Wasserman’s summer photo contest fast approaching, the county supervisor representing South County has suggested one last chance for a winning photo: the action of the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

Through July, county residents are encouraged to submit their photos of “what summer in Santa Clara County District 1 means to them,” according to Wasserman’s office.

While any photo could be a winner, the office hopes to get some photos from the annual celebration of garlic in Gilroy this weekend, said Policy Analyst Elizabeth Sanford.

“I am looking forward to seeing all the new and creative photo entries that represent what summer looks like to the residents of our beautiful county,” said Wasserman.

District 1 includes Gilroy, Morgan Hill, South San Jose and Los Gatos, as well as the surrounding unincorporated areas.

The office is looking for photos that show the motifs of summertime, ranging from boating, barbecues and farmers markets. Photos should show the distinct nature of the district.

A series of photos were chosen during the first contest in January that are now framed in the District 1 office and featured online.
