Get Out: Quilters Madness, Young Artists Exhibit and More

The Garlic City Railroad Club is also sponsoring its second "Annual Toy Train Swap Meet and Food Drive" on Saturday.

Looking for something to do around town this weekend? Well, look no further because Patch has done the research, and compiled a list of five fun things to do around town over the weekend. Have fun and get out! 

Shane Dwight at 9Lives

When/Where: 9Lives, located at 7430 Monterey St. on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Historical Walking Tour in Downtown Gilroy 

When/Where: On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Gilroy Museum, located at 195 Fifth Street. 

Why Go: It's a free walking tour through Gilroy's historic districts, led by members of the Gilroy Historical Society. Attendees will cruz the area around Fifth, Hanna and Rosanna streets. 

Price: Free

2nd Annual Toy Train Swap Meet and Food Drive

When/Where: Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gilroy Vet's Hall, located at 74 W. 6th Street. For more details, contact Pat DeLeon at (408) 206-9933.

Why Go: You're never too old to play with toys, excuse me, I mean "collectibles." Grab some toy trains or collectibles and buy, sell or swap them during the second annual toy train swap, sponsored by the Garlic City Railroad Club. Attendees who bring four canned-food items for the food drive will get $1 off admission and one free raffle ticket. 

Price: $3

Quilters March Madness Shop Hop

When/Where: Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: If you're a quilting or knitting enthusiast, you'll be in heaven. Attendees will see an array of quilts that will be available at 19 store locations from Gilroy and Hollister, to Fremont and Livermore. The two participating stores located nearby include Gilroy's Nimble Thimble and Homespun Harbor located at 341 Tres Pinos Rd. in Hollister. When/Where: Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gilroy Center for the Arts, located at 7341 Monterey St.

Why Go: Support Gilroy's young talent. Young artists between the ages of 5 and 18 will have their works on display. Attendees will have the chance to vote for "Best of Show" and first and second place in each age category.
