Get Out in Gilroy: Classic Car Show

The annual classic car show, a golf tournament that is a fundraiser for special needs residents, meet the author of a book on good manners for kids, a quilting shopping extravaganza, an auction and party nearby; our suggestions to Get Out this weekend.

 

Where/When:  , 7550 Monterey St. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Why Go: Fourteen quilty shops have banded together with the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles to promote the joy of fabics, quilting and sewing -- among those who already know it and those who do not. The annual l Shop Hop by the Bay is a reflection of this passion.

Why Go: This annual fundraiser is entering its 30th year. is a fun tradition that the City of Gilroy has been organizing for the past 30 years! All proceeds benefit the Adaptive Recreation Program for the special needs population.

Pricing: There may not be a spot for new teams any longer; you can check by calling the golf club at (408) 848-0490.  But observers can still cheer on the players and support this excellent program. 

 

Where/When: Downtown Gilroy, Saturday, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Why Go: This is Gilroy's annual classic car show, but offers much, much more than cars. Free music on three stages, shopping, food, dancing and a lot of fun.

Where/When: 1206 Shore Rd, Hollister  (Val Rocha Ranch), Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why Go: This event is a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of Val Rocha.  Besides the auction, there will be plenty of things for the kids, a jump house, petting zoo and more. And for everyone, free food and drink throuhgout the day. 

Pricing: Free to attend

Where/When: Barnes & Noble, 6825 Camino Arroyo, Friday, 11 a.m.

Why Go: Meet the author, , Karin Lefrac, and hear what she has to say about good manners for kids. She will be signing copies of her books for those who make a purchase.
