Gilroy's Theater Revival Continues With 'Love Letters'

Gilroy’s theater revival continued last weekend with a packed house and the Limelight Actors Theater’s presentation of Love Letters. More than 150 guests went to see the performance at the Gilroy Interim Center for the Arts, organizers said.

"I chose Love Letters, because it is a well-known staged reading and fits perfectly with Limelight's mission to present 'theater with a twist,'" said Kevin Heath, director and founder of the Limelight Actors Theater. 
"We want to be sure we are not presenting cookie-cutter shows each time." 

Love Letters starred married couple, Kae Jenny-Spencer and Steven Spencer. It is the story of two childhood friends who keep in touch throughout their lives and often wonder what their lives would have been like if they had married each other. The couple last performed Love Letters at a fundraiser for the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation.   

The performance last weekend was nestled between two cabaret performances. The three local singers, Carol Harris, Bill Tindall and Christine Wanish, all are veterans in the acting community.  

Cabaret performances are “something that doesn't exist here in Gilroy,” says Heath.  

The group's first production, The Outrageous Adventures of Sheldon & Mrs. Levine, sold out in late January. 

"How wonderful to have so many opportunities to show case great local talent," Wanish said. "Limelight Actors Theater is another outlet for that. I am happy to be a part of it and look forward to many more shows in the future." 

The Limelight Theater's next performances will be one-act comedies at Lizarran Tapas Restaurant starting March 11. Tickets are available at limelightactorstheater.com.
