Grab & Go Kids Planner March 30 to April 3

Gilroy Patch recommends Ranch Day in the park, a free concert, a puppet show, a children's play, and a celebration of Vietnamese culture in San Jose in this week's Kids Planner.

There's a wide range of things to choose from in and around Gilroy this week—spend a day in the state park learning about the animals. Or go to a children's play, celebrate Vietnamese culture or see a puppet show. These are just some of the things Gilroy Patch will tell you about in our kids planner for this week.

Where/When: 9000 E Dunne Ave., Morgan Hill, Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Find out what's happening in Gilroywith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Why Go: Ranch Day was postponed last week because of rain. This weekend promises to be better weather, so Ranch Day is on and it should be great. Meet  bunnies, chickens and ducks. Meet mini horses. Learn about ranch life and the Ohlone Indians. Hot dog or peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich lunch available for $2.50.

Pricing: Free (except for what you spend for food and purchases) and parking, $6.

Where/When: , 8455 Wren Ave.,  Friday, 7 p.m.

Why Go:  Peter Lewis Whitebird has been taking his unique type of music — a combination of Christian and country— all over the Southwest and California for the past few months. He also plays at the Calvary Chapel in Gilroy Saturday night. This is a good concert to see as a family. Enjoy his sound.

Pricing:  Free, but donations accepted to help defray Whitebird's expenses.

Where/When: , 7600 Church St., Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: It's a story most everyone knows, and your children will enjoy seeing it as a puppet show.  The program is just 45 minutes, so it won't be hard for the little ones to stay engaged. Gilroy native Elizabeth Fazzio is the puppeteer.

Pricing: Free, but donations accepted at the door. The show is a fundraiser for the church's piano repair project.

Where/When: 336 Fifth St., Hollister (Granada Theater), Friday, Saturday, 7 p.m., Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Charlotte's Web is a children's classic, but really it's an adult classic, too. Your kids will enjoy seeing a play they are familiar with, and you probably will, too.

Pricing: $12-$15; Advance purchase packet of four tickets for $40 also available.

Where/When: Children's Discovery Museum, 180 Woz Way, San Jose, Saturday, Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Spend a delightful day at the museum with a special Vietnamese Community Celebration, Children of the Dragon. Members of the local Vietnamese community will be taking part in the event. Enjoy the music, dance and art—all highlighting Vietnamese culture.

Pricing: Museum admission, $10
