CONCERT FOR TAKKO-MACHI
Where/When: , 7810 Carmel St, Friday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Why Go: This concert at Brownell is being put on by the South Valley Suzuki Academy as a benefit for Gilroy's sister city, Takko-machi, in Japan. It is also a treat to see our young musicians perform and to do so for such good reason.
Pricing: Donations at the door, whatever you can afford.
Where/When: , 750 W 10th St. Saturday 8 p.m.
Why Go: If you are a high school senior, you already know why you should go and are well aware of the event. It's posted here as a reminder for the rest of us when we see our young men and young women dressed in their formal attire, we will know where they are heading and congratulate on one of their last high school rituals...and perhaps think back a bit to the days of our own senior prom.
Where/When: Tech Museum, 201 S Market St, San Jose 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. , Saturday
Why Go: This is one of the principle programs of the Tech Museum for young people in grade 5 through high school. The whole idea is to challenge students with a hands-on project that solves a real problem. This year, the challenge will be figure out a way to clean the seas.
Where/When: 7341 Monterey St., Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Why Go: It's May Day and it's time to be outdoors and enjoy the weather. There will be a maypole celebration, lots to do for the kids and lots of different things to eat from the food market that will be set up at the Demonstration Garden. May Day is not to be missed.
Where/When: 12415 Murphy Ave, San Martin, Sunday, 1:00 p.m. go 5:00 p.m.
Why Go: Caley is a young girl with cystic fibrosis. The Lions Club in her community wants to help and has organized this fun day on her behalf. Everything is there for the kids to have a good time —a jump house, hair tinsel, face painting, balloon twisting, popcorn and horse rides for the kids. And you know the money you spend will go to help a young girl from our community,
