Last year, it was Santa Cruz's Chris Rene that took the spotlight on "The X-Factor," FOX's fall equivalent of American Idol.
The 2012 season is primed to feature another star from this region of California — Gilroy's Austin Corini, a 16-year-old junior at Christopher High School.
Corini has not yet been featured on the show but, he auditioned in Greensboro, North Carolina earlier this summer in front of superstar judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid.
According to the Gilroy Dispatch, Corini is on a gag order from FOX barring him from divulging any details of the audition or how far he has advanced on the show. But we can take a hint.
"The X-Factor" airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. Keep an eye out for Corini, and check out his video for his cover of Adele's "Someone Like You" above.
