Gilroy's Best Restaurant is...

Where do you go to eat before anywhere else in Gilroy?

Food is one topic that it seems everyone has an opinion on — opinions that for the most part can't be proven right or wrong.

You can't help what you like. Your taste buds have full control on that one. And with the variation among all of our taste buds comes variation in our favorite restaurants in town.

Yelp lists the top five restaurants in Gilroy as OD's Kitchen, Famous Dave's BBQ, Garlic City Cafe, Pho Thanh An and Black Bear Diner.

Over on the Gilroy Patch Facebook page, we asked readers for their restaurant suggestions and favorite orders at those eateries, and here are some of the responses:

Dave: OD's Kitchen, hands down. Any omelette w/ homefries & the coffee cup is NEVER empty!! Open at 7 most days!! Thanks, Mikey, for carrying on!! LOVE 'EM!!!

Debbie: Westside Grill and raviolis

Lynn: Tasso's

Christopher: Old City Hall ...one helluva rib eye steak and the calamari is damn near perfect

Melissa: Victoria's. Huevos rancheros.

TJ: For the Gilroy original restaurants, OD's and Sandy's Cafe are great. Anything at either one is ALWAYS yummy. For chain restaurants I want to say Mimi's, but Famous Dave's tips are to die for!

Christie: Stubby's Sport Bar & Grill

Edgar: The Milias Restaurant, best appetizer menu anywhere

So what do you think? What is the best restaurant in Gilroy and what do you order there? Tell us in the comments!

Wow, some real misses here! Maybe you should add a disclaimer - DRINKS CONSUMED BEFORE EATING MEAL! OD's hands down! It's real, it's fresh and it's almost always good. Friday Chowder! Tasso's - consistently good. Victoria's - reliable. Dave's - hit and miss, somethings really good, some things over microwaved. Westside Grill - very good and great atmosphere. Stubby's - just okay. Milias - obviously not meant for the average Joe - save those extra dollars and maybe you will make it there by summer. And the most off the mark - Old City Hall....what were you dipping that calamari into!

Don't be afraid of the prices on Tassos dinner menu. Try Tassos for lunch and save dinner for a special occasion. The lunch menu features, sandwiches, pasta, fresh fish, salads, etc etc. You won't find a more varied menu from $8 - $12. Try the Athenian Pasta, YUM!!!
