Have You Been Hit By High ATM And Checking Fees?

A banking industry newsletter says charges have hit all-time highs. What's your experience? What are you doing about it?

Has your bank raised fees on checking accounts and ATM transactions?

If so, you're not alone.

A survey by the trade industry group Bankrate found that "almost every checking fee we follow went up, with some bank fees rising 25 percent or more."

The same group said poll results suggest that 72 percent of Americans would consider switching banks if their financial institution raised its fees. This was versus 64 percent in March 2011.

A similar fee revolt swept the nation in November when a grassroots campaign persuaded many Americans to move their money from big banks to community banks or credit unions. The day of the credit union switch-over, credit unions saw record lines out the door.

What's your experience? What are you doing about it?

you know the good thing about high fees and crappy service from a private instatution is can refuse to do buis with them. Unlike our high taxes pot holed roads failing students and out rageous building permits the govt FORCES upom thee. At times with the threat of throwning one to the street incarcerating you. I love it when we can privatise road repair and love it even more when we privatise schools and county workers
