Historic Milias Restaurant Begins Serving Lunch Tuesday

The menu of the famous restaurant includes a wide selection of sandwiches, and has been designed for quicker service.

Every day since the historic Milias Restaurant on June 21, co-owners Adam Sanchez and Ann Zyburra have received phone calls asking if they served lunch yet.

“Not yet,” they had to respond to disappointed callers. But that changed on Tuesday.

The co-owners, long time caterers, knew they wanted to serve lunch eventually. But due to popular demand, Sanchez and Zyburra posted a lunch menu to the front window yesterday, and opened the restaurant’s doors at 11:30 am.

“When you open for lunch, it’s like opening all over again,” said Sanchez, who completely redesigned the new menu with Zyburra. It now allows for faster service so that business clients can come in and out within an hour.

They did not advertise the change, but 10 eager lunchtime guests still trickled in to the restaurant--which originally opened 100 years ago and is famous for catering to Hollywood elite.

“It was a soft opening; we we didn’t tell anyone,” said Zyburra, adding that she planned to hand out menus to local businesses in the next few days. “Most people that came just stopped by.”

The lunch menu boasts sandwhiches, including two of Zyburra’s personal favorites-- the Grilled Organic Eggplant sandwhich and the BLT.
