Shimek Memorial Services Scheduled for the Weekend

Owner Gino Fortino and his staff are holding a special memorial service for Lynn Shimek, the victim of Sunday's murder-suicide, on Saturday, Dec. 3.

"The family and staff of Fortino Winery would like to express our sincere sympathy to the family of Lynn Shimek," Fortino stated on the Fortino Winery Facebook page.

"We need to keep Lynn at the center of this special day. Thank you for everyone's thoughts, prayers, concerns and generosity."

Debbie Sanchez, event coordinator at Fortino Winery, said that Lynn was a regular guest, and that she was close friends with many of the Fortino staff members.

"She would frequently come to our events out here. She was definitely part of our winery events, and just really close to Tammy Rogers Drews who's one of our big supporters and wine club member," Sanchez said.

"She was just part of the winery family."

Fortino wrote that Lynn touched the lives of many people, and thanked the community for their out pour of love and support.

"The generosity of those like Sherry Pack Hollman and Adam Hollman are amazing," he wrote.

Sanchez said the Hollman's have been a huge help in ways of offering to provide food for Saturday's memorial service.

The memorial service for Lynn Shimek will take place Saturday, Dec. 3, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Fortino Winery, located at 4525 Hecker Pass Highway.

A second memorial service for both Chris and Lynn will be held Sunday afternoon in Campbell. Valerie Roberts, the sister of Chris Shimek, said the service is open to everyone who knew Chris and Lynn, and who want to support their family and children.

The service will be at 4 p.m. at Darling-Fischer Campbell Memorial Chapel, located at 231 E. Campbell Ave., Campbell 95008.

Itinerary for Saturday's memorial service at Fortino Winery:

3 to 3:30 p.m.—Reception for guests with music and food.

3:30 to 3:45 p.m.—Pastor Greg Quirke from South Valley Community Church will speak.

3:45 to 4:40 p.m.—Quirke will set the guidelines for open mic.

4:40 to 4:45 p.m.—Quirke will announce that there is only time for one more guest to speak.

4:45 to 4:50 p.m.—Quirke will close mic.

4:50 to 6 p.m.—Reception time for guests to mingle with one another, and share stories, while having food and listening to music.
