A mid-level earthquake hit six miles northeast of Morgan Hill on Thursday afternoon, sending shakes that were felt from Santa Cruz up to Emeryville.
The seismic event took place at 4:55 p.m. along the Calaveras Fault.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey website, the epicenter of the quake was 10 miles northeast of Gilroy.
A total of 84 people reported feeling the shake on the U.S.G.S. site, including 54 from Morgan Hill and 15 from Gilroy.
