DUI Checkpoint Nets Two Suspected Drunken Drivers

A weekend checkpoint for intoxicated motorists in Gilroy resulted in two arrested for DUI, a warrant arrest and dozens of tickets for lesser infractions, the Gilroy Police Department reported Tuesday.

The screening happened Saturday night. 

Nearly 600 vehicles came through the checkpoint, with 43 diverted to a secondary screening area, according to police.

In addition to the arrests, 29 drivers were ticketed for driving without a license and four were cited for driving while their licenses were suspended, police said. Four vehicles were towed.
