Gilroy Marine Captain Comes Home for the Holidays
Richard Ruiz got to spend the cheeriest season with his family.
After seven months in Afghanistan, Gilroy native and Marine Captain Richard Ruiz got to come home for the holidays.
He was greeted at Camp Pendleton by his wife Katie on Dec. 20.
Ruiz, the commanding officer of the 9th Communication Battalion, Dwyer Detachment, made the trip back to the states with more than 100 other Marines.
