Gilroy Population Boomed in 2012

Only nine cities in California grew faster than Gilroy last year.

According to a study released last week by California Department of Finance, Gilroy had 10th fastest growing population of all California cities in 2012. 

The population increased to 51,544, an increase of 2.9 percent from 2011. 

Santa Clara County was also the fastest growing county in the state, increasing in population by 1.6 percent last year.

Just up the road, Morgan Hill also made a big jump, increasing by 2.6 percent up to 40,079 people. See the top ten biggest gainers in the table below.
