Police Blotter: Five Shoplifters Steal Jeans worth $1K

Here are last week's crime reports for Gilroy.

May 24
Drunk in Public: A 26-year-old man was arrested on Church Street at 2:52 a.m.

Commercial Burglary: A water heater and air compressor were stolen from Gilroy Vet overnight. 

Bike theft: A BMX bike was stolen from Monterey Street around 2 p.m.

Grand Theft: Three men and two women stole 20 pairs of True Religion jeans from BVI around 1 p.m.. They fled in three separate cars. The jeans are worth $1,000.

Shoplifting: Two people tried to take baskets of merchandise from Walmart without paying around 2:15 p.m. The stolen goods were worth more than $1,600. They were arrested.

Trespassing: A man evicted from a Murray Avenue apartment keeps breaking in to sleep, then hides in the closet. He was arrested there around 4 p.m.

Domestic Disturbance: A man living on West Seventh Street ran off with his partner's keys around 4:15 p.m. She called the police and now there's a warrant for his arrest.

Car Burglary: Tools were stolen from a locked work van parked on Fillipelli Drive around 4 p.m.

Robbery: A 27-year-old woman was arrested for attempted robbery, resisting police and other charges on Monterey Street around 5:20 p.m. She reportedly kicked open the door of someone else's apartment and tried to rob a man of his car keys.

Injury Accident: A teenager tried to cross Chestnut Street at East Tenth Street against the "Don't Walk" signal and was hit by a car. The teen walked away, but was later found with a minor head injury and sent home with her father.

Commercial Burglary: Thieves used pass keys to open coin machines at Garlic City Billards and steal all the quarters. The business was open at the time. The thieves fled around 8:15 p.m. in a red 1997 four-door Saturn.

Theft: A MacBook was stolen from an address on Monterey Street.

Shoplifting: A parolee was busted for stealing candy, a rug, a drill, a coffeemaker and flatware from a store on Camino Arroyo around 10:15 p.m.

May 23

Auto Burglary: The driver's side door window was smashed and a car stereo stolen from two different cars overnight on Hanna Street. 

Commercial Burglary: The front window was shattered at a Monterey Street business and $700 in cash was stolen overnight.

Drunk in Public: A Christopher High student was arrested on campus around 11:15 a.m. for being drunk and in possession of marijuana. 

Domestic Violence: A 21-year-old man was arrested on Third Street around 1:30 p.m. An $895 Louis Vuitton purs and a $295 Michael Kors purse were damaged during the struggle.

Stolen Vehicle: A 1992 black Nissan Pathfinder was jacked from First Street around 2:15 p.m.

Assault: A 41-year-old woman accused her partner of having an affair with their roommate. She bit him twice and scratched his chest during the argument. She was arrested around 11 p.m. at an Alexander Street apartment.

May 19
Fraud: A woman reported two fraudulent charges on her credit card.

May 17
Petty Theft: Someone removed current plates from a vehicle parked on Springdale Court and replaced them with expired plates. The crime was reported at 6:15 p.m.
