Police Blotter: Man Busted Transporting Meth in Stolen Vehicle

Also, shoplifting was rampant in Gilroy this week.

May 31
Warrant Arrest: A 20-year-old woman was arrested on Forest Street around 5:30 a.m.

Auto Burglary: A car window was smashed and purse stolen overnight on Ayer Drive. 

Vandalism: A truck's  windshield and window were shattered, and the panels were spraypainted. It happened overnight on First Street. 

May 30
Stolen Vehicle: A 34-year-old man was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle, transporting methamphetamine for sale, resisting arrest, having a suspended driver's license and a warrant. Henry James Strickland was stopped on Leavesley Road near Murray Avenue around 11:48 a.m. 

Theft: A woman's cell phone was stolen off of her desk at work. 

Assault: Reported on West 10th Street around 7:50 a.m. A 46-year-old man was arrested.

Commercial Burglary: A teen contacted during a traffic stop on First Street around 9 a.m. had a large bottle of alcohol that she admitted stealing from CVS.

Warrant: A 32-year-old man was arrested on First Street.

Assault: Reported on Forest Street around 2 p.m. 

Assault: Police were called to two siblings fighting on Gurries Drive around 3:30 p.m. A 31-year-old man was arrested for battery.

Petty Theft: A 53-year-old woman was arrested for a warrant on Chestnut Street when she was caught shoplifting from a store there. 
Shoplifting: A model car kit, a model rocket launch pad and other various items used for crafting models were stolen from a store on Camino Arroyo. The items are worth about $120. 

Shoplifting: A man tried to steal bike tubes and batteries from a store on Camino Arroyo by hiding them in his pants. He was caught.

Theft: A cell phone was reported stolen on West Sixth Street. 
Shoplifting: A teen hid jewelry in her bra in an attempt to steal from Kohl's. She was caught. 

Vandalism: Graffiti was scrawled on a front window on Monterey Street. 

Warrant Arrest: A 49-year-old man was picked up on First Street around 11:40 p.m. 

May 29
Vandalism: A car window was smashed on Lewis Street.

Shoplifting: Sunflower shorts worth $50 were stolen from a store on Leavesley Road. 

Shoplifting: Two teens were arrested for trying to steal items from a store on Chestnut Street. The girls had hidden clothing worth almost $200 in their purses. 

Stolen Vehicle: A Regology work truck was reported stolen from a location on Pacheco Pass Highway around 6:45 p.m.

DUI: A 23-year-old man was arrested on Travel Park Circle around 11:25 p.m.

May 28

Commercial Burglary: A burglar cut the fence on the backside of a Swanston Lane property and broke into the storage lockers. The theft was reported at 8:20 a.m.

Fraud: A customer of a now-closed business called to report fraud.

Petty Theft: Someone stole a surveillance camera from a location Murry Avenue. 

Assault: Two people got into an argument that turned physical on Peregrine Drive. One participant, who was injured, later called police from San Francisco to report the fight.

Fight: Two female Christopher High School students got into a fight at lunch. 

Warrants: A 31-year-old man was arrested for five warrants on West Eighth and Hanna streets, and on Hanna Street a 48-year-old man was jailed for warrants.

Drugs: A man on a bike was stopped for a violation at Church and Third streets He had a small amount of methamphetamine and was wanted. He was arrested.

Car Crash: A bike and a vehicle collided at Fifth and Monterey streets around 6:30 p.m. There were minor injuries.

Stolen Property: Parents brought in a stolen iPhone and tablet they confiscated from their son. 

Drugs: A 20-year-old man was arrested for being high on drugs and having marijuana on Railroad and East Sixth streets around 10:45 p.m.

May 27 
Auto Burglary: A car was broken into on Kern Avenue and a GPS was stolen. It was reported at 10 p.m.

May 25
Vandalism: A wall was tagged on Monterey Street.
