Record Temperatures Scorch Gilroy Nov. 5

At a reported 93 degrees, Monday is the hottest Nov. 5 in Gilroy on record.

Yet again, the heat of fall is reaching historic records in Gilroy.

In early October, a 107º day had residents running for the air conditioning. And it's happening again, just 14 degrees cooler.

It is difficult to be exact with these measurements. Different weather websites measure temperature from different locations, and temperatures can vary depending on minute things like elevation and shade.

At 3 p.m. Monday, WeatherBug listed Gilroy at 93 degrees. According to Intellicast.com, the historic average high temperature for Nov. 5 in Gilroy is 71, with the all-time record of 89 being set in 1976. If WeatherBug is accurate, 2012 shatters that record.

Temperatures are set to cool down Tuesday and should be back to normal in the 70s by Wednesday.
