Sections of Monterey Street Closed for Sidewalk Cleaning

Sections of Monterey Street that are actively being cleaned will be closed to pedestrians on Monday and Tuesday night.

The City of Gilroy Public Works Department is notifying residents of night-time street cleanings that will continue through Tuesday night.

The semiannual street cleanings entail the pressure washing of sidewalks on Monterey Street from 4th to 8th Streets. The area will be barricaded off from pedestrians and drivers from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

"No Parking" signs are posted restricting night-time parking.

Sections of the sidewalk on Monterey Street that are actively being cleaned will be closed to pedestrian traffic and will be opened to pedestrians after washing crews remove the barricades, according to a release by the Public Works Department.

Members from Saint Joseph’s Family Center are helping with the pre-cleaning of sidewalks by removing gum and other residue.
