Papua New Guinea Sculpture Garden – the Magic and the Myths
During the summer of 1994, 10 master carvers from the Middle Sepik River Region of Papua New Guinea worked in residence at Stanford. They created a permanent outdoor sculpture garden of wood and stone carvings of people, animals and magical beings that illustrate clan stories and creation myths. Join us for a docent–led tour of this ground–breaking exhibition and the complementary landscape of Yuccas, Dracaenas, Lion’s tail, Aloe, New Zealand Flax and large Silk Oak.
