What a wonderful weekend seeing neighbors supporting our Garlic Fest. While sitting on a bale of hay, enjoying a peppersteak sandwich, we bopped to blues wafting over Christmas Hill Park. Couples, fit and muscled in Garlic tees, jazzily two stepped to crooning bands.
Mr. Yip and his Musical Crew serenaded art lovers admiring wooden hand carved trivets that pop up into artily decorative bowls.
All worked hard in Gourmet Alley, then partied hardy into the evening sipping iced cold lemonade, Pinot Grigio and beer. Kidlets returned home from internships, college to reconnect and yell, "Whoooop....Wazzup! and Yo Ho!" to friends.
On Monday, our own Sam Bozzo stopped into First Street Coffee, ordering a warm café before heading back to help tear down the festival, or as my Mom used to say, "Leave your campsite better than you found it."
If you need a local staycation before escaping to beach or mountains, Platinum Theater is showing Reds 2. Enjoy the cast of hilarious spying characters, from Helen Mirren to Anthony Hopkins, scientific genius in a plot that kept us gasping at chases, intrigue and action.
Catch Reds 2 while it's still playing, a good excuse to put your feet up, let someone else make the popcorn and sip a cold Mr. Pibb. Don't forget that along with senior, student discounts, Tuesday is the day to go to the movies, pricewise. Relish the 20 or so days until school starts again. Feel the early morning cool breeze caress cheeks and blooming sage. Be happy, safe and have fun out there.
