Fall Changes and New Content at CMAP.TV

This month at CMAP TV!

If you’ve walked in to CMAP’s offices at Gavilan College in the past few weeks, you might have noticed that there’s a new configuration in the building. CMAP is now sharing our digs with the good folks at GavTV. Stay tuned for a press release that outlines this continuing collaboration and some big changes.

We’re gearing up for our presence at the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Trade Show.

Stop by our booth to register to win prizes like an iPod Touch, classes on digital storytelling, making holiday cards online and other digital gift-making classes at CMAP!

Staff recently completed a video with Chamber volunteers: Cheryl Ellemberg from ABD Promotions, Jason Salazar from Santa Barbara Bank, and Trust Sherry Allen from Baskets By Design. This educational video helps local businesses learn how to maximize their sales and networking at this event. Take a look here.

CMAP created more than 12 edited segments, which were available to viewers on our public access cable channel 20 and online at cmap.tv throughout the weekend of the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

These volunteer and staff-created segments told the stories of our mounted police units, the parking crew, garlic ice cream, with local festival volunteers and also featured engaging interviews with celebrity chefs, winners of cook-off stage events and visitors at the festival. CMAP also ran the jumbotron, which is what viewers watched during all cook-off stage events, and captured all footage into three days of programming aired online and on our cable channels.

CMAP created more media content from the 2011 Gilroy Garlic Festival than any other media outlet ANYWHERE. And, all of that content was made available throughout the weekend to Patch subscribers! You can watch this content now at cmap.tv under our videos section on the left column.

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers and staff who made this years CMAP coverage of the Gilroy Garlic Festival a huge success!

Post-Garlic Festival CMAP staff have been busy with the move and with summer youth programs in San Benito County and in Gilroy. One outcome of a summer program with teen moms through the Hollister Youth Alliance was their creation of a public service announcement about teen pregnancy. Their video will be posted soon at cmap.tv.

Check out this video on “Internet Safety For Kids” created in a one-week summer Digital Media Institute with youth from San Benito County through our partnership with the YMCA. This program was sponsored in part through a grant from the Community Foundation for San Benito County.

Watch September's Arts 101 for information about upcoming arts events and interviews with the artists of our community. Stay tuned for the first one year anniversary of the Going Green show, and our new restaurant review show, “Get Out & Eat!”
