The Face of Blissful Ignorance

I find it amazing that our elected officials are trying to put the blame on NSA leaker Edward Snowden for merely telling the truth about what the government is up to. But it's not Snowden's fault that the world is in an uproar, it's the fault of the NSA.

Imagine if you will that Snowden just did his job hacking into our privacy for the government like he was supposed to. We would be sitting here in ignorant bliss not knowing what the government is doing to us. That is of course till it got out some other way. I mean - really - is an operation this big really something you can keep secret? So if Snowden didn't tell us we would have found out only it would be later, after more damage to America's integrity occurred. And we would be better off?

To say that Snowden did harm is to say that you would rather not know. It like the scene in the Movie "The Matrix" where you are given a choice to take the blue pill which would leave you in a state of blissful ignorance, or take the red pill and see reality the way it really is. And now that the reality has been exposed there are those who are desperately trying to find a way back to blissful ignorance. And Nancy Pelosi is advocating that.

In fact with the "Patriot Act" the definition of patriot now has a negative context. These days a patriot is someone who believes what the government is telling you even what they tell you they are lying to you.

I had a Washington newspaper interview me today. One of the questions he asked was, "Are Democrats angry about the NSA spying?" I said, "No - I wouldn't call it anger. I would call it stunned disbelief. Some people are denouncing Obama. Some are still supporting him. But everyone is stunned and it's all they are talking about."

But where do you go? To the Republicans? The party who wants to outlaw abortion because they think fetuses masturbate? The party who thinks they only right you have is the right to carry a gun? Are we now going to embrace the idea of President Palin?

The problem is that there are no longer any good guys anymore. They all want us to give up our liberty and create a new social contract. They are working together to undermine what America stands for. I am an outspoken critic and I know I'm being watched. Makes me wonder when people in mental institutions are saying, "See - I told you so!" and they are right.

So what does a person who lives freedom and liberty do? Where does one go to restore the rule of law? I don't know which is harder, losing one's mind or being one of the few people who hasn't lost my mind in a world gone mad.
