Gilroy Death Notices: Grief Counselor, Cryptologist, Cement Worker
We recognize the following people with ties to Gilroy who are recently deceased.
Virginia May (Ginnie) Blattman: Blattman died June 19 at the age of 85. She was devoted to her family and lived in various towns in California during her life. During a residency in Gilroy, she became involved in hospice work and grief counseling, and she was named South San Benito County Director to the Center for Living With Dying. She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren.
Gerald L. (Jerry) Linstedt: Linstedt, a graduate of Gilroy High School, died May 18 at the age of 74 at his home in Copperopolis. He was Navy cryptologist and rose to the rank of commander. He also worked in the private sector for 18 years. He is survived by his three children and eight grandchildren.
Jesus Robles: Born in Mexico, Robles came to California as part of the Bracero program to work as a migrant farmworker. In 1946, working on a ranch in Gilroy, he met his wife, Ramona Aguilar. They went on to raise seven children in Concord, where Robles worked in construction. He is survived by his children, 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He died June 20 at the age of 89.
