Readers' Choice: Best Place to Buy Sporting Goods

You get to pick: What's the best sporting goods store in Gilroy?

This week we're asking readers to vote for the best place to buy sporting goods around town. A few stores that come to mind right off the bat are Big Five Sporting Goods in Morgan Hill and The Sports Authority in Gilroy.

The Sports Authority is an all-purpose sporting goods store carrying both gear and apparel. The store has products for about every popular sport out there: golf, soccer, swimming, football, tennis, surfing, skiing, snowboarding, camping, fishing, hunting—you name it.

Then there’s the more specialized sporting goods store, like Predator’s Archery, which specializes in hunting and target bows. And we can’t forget about our local bike shops,  Sunshine Bicycles and the Bike Center on Monterey Street.

Here are some of our favorite sporting goods stores, but if we're leaving one off the list, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it:

If you know of a great sporting goods place nearby, you can vote for it at Watsonville Patch, Campbell  Patch or Cupertino Patch.

Rate these businesses by taking our poll, and give a shout-out to the region's best sporting goods business in the comments section.

We also hope you'll click on the links provided here to rate the businesses on their Patch Places listings and even leave a review, if you're so inclined.

The winner of this poll will be determined using a point system based on the most verified votes together with the best ratings in each business' directory listings. If there’s a tie, the business with the highest number of positive reviews in the listings and comments in the Readers' Choice article will be declared the winner.

Voting results posted in real time shall not be deemed official until Patch has reviewed and confirmed all of the votes.

Voting is open until 9 a.m. Friday and the winner, announced around noon, will receive a "Readers' Choice 2012" certificate. Please rate the businesses below on their Patch Places listings and leave a review.

So which one is it going to be? Tell us your favorite sporting goods store around town, and make sure to tell us why it's the best.

Also, it would take some work but couldn't the books be divided up and put into the classrooms? OrRead More is it because they were bought as library books with the library grant they have to stay in the library. It will be very embarrassing to tell book vendors that Luigi Aprea does not have a library anymore.

I don't know why the parents club can't run the library. They would have to be trained with theRead More computer library program but I'm sure there would be parents that would be willing to do that. It is very sad that just because we can't hire a librarian that the students have to loose out. That does not seem fair to me. I thought the students were supposed to come first and not be denied services due to a budget shortfall. We were promised that the budget would not effect the classroom. I guess in this case the union is more powerful than necessary. So all those books are going to collect dust. How sad and unacceptable.

Nobody and I mean Nobody hasRead More the right to rape or force a femsle to have sex with her,and then to make matters worse, they posted pictures of her on facebook ! As a parent my heart goes out to het and her parents !

The offensive comment we're discussing shows a complete lack of respect for women that permeates ourRead More culture. That this person actually thought this poor young girl had culpability for her attack is a symptom of our societies disregard for women. I'm actually glad he made the comment so we can look at and discuss the problem.

From one of the interviews I watched online, it seems that many Saratoga High students knew whatRead More happened at the party and had seen the pictures. How is it that arrests did not follow the assault and the suicide for over 6 months? Could it be that the students who knew information about the felony chose to remain silent? I hope that is not the case; we will surely find out as the details of the case are revealed in the media over the next weeks and months. In the meantime lets make sure we are teaching our kids about the responsibility of living in community and caring about others. God forbid that any of the students have to live with the knowledge that they could have prevented the suicide, or with the knowledge that they helped cover up such a heinous crime.
