An 80-year-old woman driving in the Hollister-Gilroy area was thrown from her vehicle and killed following the Tuesday crash of her SUV, which overturned onto a dirt embankment, authorities said.
The woman -- her name was not immediately released by the California Highway Patrol -- was traveling north on state Route 25 -- north of Hudner Lane in San Benito County -- when the driver made an unsafe right turn, the CHP reported.
The Ford overturned and she was thrown from the vehicle; the woman was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the CHP.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, the CHP reported.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash and it was under investigation Wednesday.
