9/11 Anniversary Ceremony Planned for Next Tuesday

The annual ceremony will be held in front of the police station at 7th Street and Hanna Street in Gilroy.

As has been the custom since the Sept. 11, 2002, the Gilroy Police Department and Gilroy Fire Department will come together next Tuesday (Sept. 11) to commemorate the lives lost 11 years ago on 9/11.

The ceremony is set to begin at 8 a.m. and will last approximately 30 minutes, Gilroy Public Information Officer Joe Kline told Patch.

"We will have an honor guard from the police department and fire department," Kline said. "They present the colors and a signal comes in ... at the fire department at the exact minute and hour that the incident started occurring in New York City."
